What is a Retreat?

The word “retreat” means to withdraw or retire to a refuge.  Although human nature is communal, we also need time alone to regroup, experience rest, and gain clarity.  Retreat taking is a practice which allows us to do all of this over a specified period of time.  Some retreats last for part of a day, others for a month.  Retreats can be structured or more open ended.  They can be guided, where the retreatant engages a Spiritual Companion or mentor to help plan the retreat and for support during the retreat time.  Retreats can also be self-designed, with no outside help or interaction from others. 

Why Take a Retreat?

There are many benefits to taking a retreat.  In our modern society, over-stimulation and fatigue are the norm.  Both of these states leave us overtaxed on all levels and unable to see ourselves, our circumstances, and others clearly.  A retreat removes this over-stimulation and replaces it with solitude and stillness.  With this shift comes a chance to relax, rest, and listen to our bodies, gain clarity about our lives, and reconnect with ourselves.  In retreat, we truly make ourselves the priority, which allows us to get to know ourselves and our desires.  In turn we have strength to do the inner work which leads to healing and transformation, wholeness, and a more fulfilling life.

Personalized Retreats

 *All of my retreats have an online format, which gives you a lot of flexibility.  You can stay home or book a space somewhere else.  You can complete the retreat at your leisure, within a time frame that suits you.  

A personalized retreat is one that I design for you to fit your specific needs.  These retreats can be a half-day to three days in length. However, if you’re interested in a longer retreat, let me know.  Generally, I can design longer retreats upon request.

  • Please schedule a free 45 minute consultation with me.  This session will help you determine whether a personalized retreat designed by me fits your current needs. If you decide that it does, we’ll discuss your desires for the retreat and determine how I can support you by creating a retreat just for you.  

  •  I will design the retreat to suit your needs based on the above consultation. You’ll receive a Retreat Packet containing the material needed for your retreat. This will include a suggested schedule for the length of your retreat, helpful information about retreat taking, information about the unique rituals, spiritual and meditation practices I have designed for you as well as any reading material or other media (links to guided meditations or talks) that you do not have on hand yourself.

Local/In Person Retreats

Please contact me if you are interested in a local/in person retreat. My Airbnb/VRBO space, Sojourner House, is available for urban retreats. Prices for these retreats do not necessarily reflect the prices listed.
